The Environment Agency of Abu Dhabi (EAD) recently announced a restriction on the use of selected foam products, effective June 1, 2024. This initiative, introduced in 2020 by the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy, is part of the Abu Dhabi Single-Use Plastic Products Restriction Order, which aims to reduce the consumption of single-use plastic products across Abu Dhabi and encourage the use of reusable products.
In a statement released by Shaikha Salem Al Dhaheri, secretary general of EAD, the success of the ban on single-use plastic bags in Abu Dhabi inspired the city to implement a ban on some polystyrene foam products. Furthermore, the initiative is intended to foster a healthy environment and sustainable lifestyle for all, while also combating climate change by reducing resource consumption and related pollution.
The Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED) was currently facilitating the transition by providing training to over 50,000 domestic business entities and 80 industrial enterprises.
In the face of plastic restrictions, manufacturers may turn to the development and use of alternative materials, such as biodegradable materials or other more environmentally friendly options. PP Hollow Boards and related products made with the environmentally friendly material Polyproylene may gain popularity and a significant increase in market share if the Plastic Restriction drives up consumer and business demand for environmentally friendly products.
PP hollow sheet is an environmentally friendly material made of high impact polypropylene resin. It is lightweight, waterproof, shockproof, corrosion resistant, non-toxic and recyclable. Therefore, PP hollow sheet is suitable for a wide range of industries, including agriculture, printing, signage, packaging, and construction.
